My new rejuvenated N95

I have recently upgraded my N95-1 from the old firmware version 20.0.015 to version 30.0.015. I can frankly tell you that it is a tedious process and it suffered a few shocks which nearly give a heart attack. Why is it tedious? First of all, my N95 is an AP set whereby the product code is 0548986*. Guess what, the product code indicates that the handset is for India market! Har? How can it reach our Malaysia shore? I totally have no idea.

*Hint 1: You can find your N95 product code on the back of the phone, just above the sim card slot. It is printed on a sticker.

Secondly, the latest update for product code 0548986 is still V 20.0.015 . Hence, after googling a while, I have found a way to change the product code so that I can upgrade my firmware version. I admit that I'm a bit "kan jeong" but I can help it because the latest update boast an auto-rotate function just like the hot I Phone 3G! How can I wait? I really don't have any idea when Nokia is going to have my product code available for upgrade. Wait....but not all N95 owners need to go through such an idiot long process. You can check your current product code is available for upgrade to the latest V 30.0.015**. If yes, congratulations to you otherwise please continue to read on. :) **Hint 2: You can check whether your product code is available for the latest upgrade at this URL ------> http://www.nokia.com.my/A4759038

Magic on product code

I have changed my product code to a Singapore product code which is 054833, which is applicable for the latest firmware updagrae. You can verify this through the URL given above.
The question now is how to change the product code. The process is simple. All you need to do is to go to this website i.e. http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/software.htm

After you have downloaded and installed the software, please open the NSS (Nemesis Service Suit) programme. You must make sure that your N95 is plug in to your PC via your USB cable.
In the NSS, click on the "Scan for new devices" (the magnifying glass). Thereafter, it shall able to detect your N95 and you should able to see a new screen. Now click on the "Phone info". You can see your product code there. Just retype a new product code and put a tick on it before you click on write. That's all..simple as that....

Now, you can go to your Nokia Software Uploader and upgrade the latest firmware...:-)

Hint 3: I find that it is a waste of time to backup your phone using the Nokia Content Copier because you my phone nearly crash after the restoration process. May be due to different firmware software when I backup and now restore to a newer version. So, my advice is just install again all the software....
