Malaysia Vs Other Countries : Transportation System

After the Government has announced to revamp the transportation AGAIN recently, one may think of this: AGAIN? Is there any improvement since the last revamp in the past?
Personally, I think the waiting time for Kelana Jaya line LRT has improved alot since the introduction of the 4 coaches train early 2010. However, with the existing line in place, this is not adequate as many places as possible. Places neglected are Subang, Kepong, Selayang, Penang, JB and around the vicinity of KL downtown.

It is encouraging to note that Gamuda Bhd and MMC Corp Bhd are interested to be in charge of the new MRT project.

So the question would be whether the project will be a Build, Operate & Transfer; Turnkey project or government involved project? I wonder how the people going to churn out the RM43bil needed to fund the project. It is really a huge sum of money involved and even the SMART tunnel RM 1,887 million and KLCC USD 1.6b can't be compared to this huge infrastructure project.

Ok, enough of the crap. Let's compare to other countries around:

Singapore
-They called it the MRT
-Currently there are 4 lines.
-Planned to expand the existing line from 4 to 8!
-Personal experience:I've travelled on their MRT and i can conclude that the stations are well connected. The areas that are not covered by MRT are adequately covered by the buses. Buses are very reliable and most of the time are punctual.

Bangkok
-Consist of MRT and BTS(Skytrain)
-1 line for MRT
-2 line for BTS
-At least 5 additional lines are under plan

London
-Known as the London Tube
-One of oldest rapid transit in the world
-14 lines
-Around 80% of Londoners rely on London Tube for their daily travel
-Personal experience:Reliable but subject to labour strikes!

Paris
-Known as the Paris Metro
-14 rapid transit lines
-Personal experience: The lines are quite confusing for 1st time users but I get used to it after a few trips..;)

So, after all, what do you think about Malaysia's Kelana Jaya Line, Ampang Line and Monorail?? Pls leave some comments.

Heyyy! I think the public transport in KL is CRAP!!!!

Eg for me to get to our ex-office, i will need to drive/take bus to train station. Take train to Masjid Jamek. Then change to go to Sentral. And then walk to office with the heavy backpack! Never bothered trying!

From Sunway college to go home in Cheras, i needed to take a stupid crowded packed shuttle bus to KelanaJaya. Train to Masjid Majek, change train. Then mom needs to pick me up or i need to take a bus. 2hour trip.

Even in Melbourne, people here say their public transport is crap! Hahah, inside i laugh but outside i agree with them for fun, why not strive for better? Hehehe

Yes. I wouldn't agree more. Our existing public transport is shitty enough. Can't imagine they are pouring around RM36b to construct the MRT and end up a white elephant. Well, the earlier LRT & monorail were build without proper planning. They really need to improve the current infrastructure before looking into something better!!
